Jenny Payne won the 1500m event in school-record pace at the Metropolitan Conference Championships on Saturday, leading the Seawolves to a sixth-place finish overall. On the men's side, Craig Matuza also displayed record-breaking form to qualify for the IC4A Championships next weekend. His toss of 155 feet, four inches in the discus set a new Seawolves mark. The women's 4x100m relay team of Dana Shepherd, Tamieka Henry, Nicola Baker and Farah Belizario recorded a second-place finish and equalled the school record of 49.64. Tara Sullivan ran the 5000m in 18:34.77, good for a runner-up finish, while Mike Thompson and Dave deWolfe both recorded third-place finishes. Thompson recorded a time of 4:02.53 in the 1500m, while deWolfe finished the 5000m in 15:35.77. He was fifth in the discus with another fourth-best throw in Seawolves history, 144 feet, four inches. Costa Sevdinoglou also scored in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, six and one-half inches. In addition for the women's team, Shepherd and Henry took the fourth and fifth scoring spots in the 100m with times of 12.86 and 13.06, respectively.
