Corinne Leake's Third Place Finish Leads Stony Brook at Terrier Classic

Jan. 31, 2004

Boston, Mass. - Corinne Leake finished third in the 500-meters and qualified for ECAC Championships to highlight the Stony Brook Indoor Track and Field teams at the Terrier Classic this weekend. Leake finished in a season-best time of 1:16.10 to lead three ECAC and one IC4A qualifiers for the Seawolves.

Jackie Nunez and Leonora Joy took sixth and eighth place, respectively, in the mile with ECAC qualifying times of 4:51.74 and 4:57.75. Lauren Gengo finished sixth in the 1000-meters with a time of 3:00.76, while freshman Dana Hastie, who was running her first race for SB, ran 5:07.03 for the mile. Hastie's and Gengo's times qualified both of them for MET Championships. Abigail Nathanial also qualified for the METS with a 400-meter time of 59.48.

On the men's side, Dale Summerville ran the 3000-meters in 8:20.00, just shy of his school record but well under the IC4A qualifying standard. Other season-best performances came from Brian Farrell in the mile in 4:18.29, freshman Trent Olson in the 1,000-meters in 2:33.70 and Shaun Krawitz in the mile in 4:22.35. All of these performances qualified the individuals for the MET Championships.

The Seawolves return to action on February 8th when they compete in the Metropolitan Championships.
