Florida Picks Up All-A-10 Honors at XC Championship

PHILADELPHIA - Sparked by a 14th place finish from freshman Andrea Florida, Saint Joseph's placed seventh overall on Saturday at the 2005 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships, held at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, PA.

Florida, who covered the course in 18:43 captured All-Conference honors for her efforts. She became the first Hawk to receive All-League recognition since 2003.

Narrowly missing All-Conference was junior Suzie McHenry who finshed 19th overall in a time of 18:49.3. Classmate Rebecca Powell ran third for the Hawks placing 29th (19:15.8). Junior Renee Spangler (19:53.4/53rd), sophomore Adrienne Beltz (19:55.9/58th), senior Marcy DeLorenzo (19:56.0/59th) and junior Maddie Bell (20:22.9/71st) rounded out the scorers for SJU.

Spearheaded by Performer of the Year Rachel Papin, La Salle won its fourth title in five years as they outdistanced runner-up Charlotte, 40-103. Richmond finished third with 104 points, followed by Rhode Island (109), Xavier (143), Duquesne (170), Saint Joseph's (173), Dayton (195), Massachusetts (220), Fordham (238), George Washington (299), Saint Louis (310), Temple (413), and St. Bonaventure (454).
