Saint Joseph's Women's Tennis Blanks La Salle, 7-0

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team capped the home portion of their fall season in style Friday at Finnesey courts, downing La Salle 7-0. The Hawks earned the first point of the match, earning wins at all three doubles flights as the Explorers forfeited on account of not enough players due to injury. Already having registered a point, Saint Joseph's made quick work of La Salle in singles play as the top five flights were all straight-set victories. Senior Stephania Velazquez earned the first point of the day at No. 1 singles for the Hawks with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Rachael Barnhart, while classmate Gina DiGiacomo posted a 6-2, 7-6 win over Lauren Perry at No. 2 singles. SJU freshman Margaret Mullaney earned a 6-1,6-1 win over Martha Kutten at No. 3 singles, and senior Lauren Kuhmerker earned a 6-7, 6-0 win over Chrishha Gomez at No. 4 singles. Hawks' junior Tristin Reppert downed Taylor Silverio 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, while freshman Katy Borden earned a forfeit victory at No. 6 due to the Explorers' shorthanded roster. With the win, the Hawks improve to 3-5 on the year, while La Salle falls to 0-6. Saint Joseph's returns to action next Tuesday, October 16, at Lafayette. Saint Joseph's 7, La Salle 0
