Paine Named to NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Third Team

Dec. 6, 2005

PHILADELPHIA - Following one of the best offensive seasons in Saint Joseph's women's soccer history, senior forward Alisha Paine was recognized for her outstanding year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as a member of the All-Mid-Atlantic Third Team.

An Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and 10 All-Championship Team selections, Paine posted team-bests in goals (nine), assists (five) and points (23). Making a move from the backfield to forward prior to the season, Paine finished the season third all-time in single-season goals, third in single-season points and tied for second in single-season assists. A four-year starter, Paine will graduate this May fourth all-time in program history in points (34), fifth in goals (13) and tied for seventh in assists (eight).

A star on the field, Paine also excelled off it, becoming the first Hawk in program history to be named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 Team. An elementary and special education major with a 3.342 grade-point-average, Paine earned a spot on the All-District 2 Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Paine is only the third player in Hawk program history to earn NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Team honors, joining former third-team honorees Megan Schutt (2003) and Ellen Stenrud (1997).

The 2005 season marked the third straight season the Hawks have advanced to the A-10 Championship. Saint Joseph's posted an 8-9-3 overall record and 4-3-2 Atlantic 10 record.
