Wean Named To Jewish Sports Review's Women's Soccer All-America First Team
Jan. 18, 2005 PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's University women's soccer forward Ali Wean (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) has been named to the Jewish Sports Review's 2004 All-America College Soccer First Team. In her first season on Hawk Hill, Wean led the Hawks in scoring, tallying five goals and two assist for 12 points. The sophomore attacker was also credited with game-winning goals in three contests. Wean, who transferred from Florida State following her freshman year, helped Saint Joseph's to a 9-11-1 record and advance to the Atlantic 10 semifinals for the first time in program history. Wean recorded the Hawks lone goal in their 2-1 semifinal loss to eventual A-10 champ Dayton. Wean recorded one goal and five shots in the Hawks two post-season games, earning a spot on the A-10 All-Tournament Team. Wean is joined on the First Team by forwards Kim Taylor (University of Washington), Melissa Shulman (Boston University); midfielders Rebecca Moros (Duke), Carolyn Warhaftig (Colgate), Jamie Artsis (University of Michigan), Darci Gwartz (UC Santa Barbara); defenders Rachel-Rose Cohen (Duke), Pam Cooney (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Shana Herman (Rider); and goalkeeper Meghan Miller (University of Kansas).
