PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior field hockey standout Rebecca Cunfer was recently named to the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer/PhillySIDA Field Hockey Academic All-Area Team in voting conducted by area sports information directors. The honorees for the fall sports seasons were announced in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Sunday.

Cunfer is a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team and was named the conference's Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. On the field, she led the Hawks to back-to-back appearances in the Atlantic 10 Championship Game the past two seasons, and ranks in the top 10 in SJU history in a number of categories, including shutouts, saves, and goals against average.

Cunfer finished the 2007 season with a record of 11-9. She tallied a goals-against average of 1.27, with 93 saves and four shutouts on the year. She also garnered Second Team All-Conference honors, as well as a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team.
