RED STORM FALL IN ECAC FINALS

For the second straight year, the Red Storm (12-9-0) fell in the Championship game of the ECAC Tournament by the score of 1-0. This year, the spoilers were Pennsylvania (10-8-1), the #2 seed of the tournament.

The two teams finished the first half in a 0-0 tie, with St. Johns held to just one shot in the first 45:00 of play. Pennsylvania scored the only goal of the match in the 65th minute as Angela Konstantaras broke past the Red Storm defense for the score. St. Johns had an offensive spark in the final fifteen minutes of the game, unleashing four shots and taking three corner kicks, with each shot just missing the goal. Lisa Rinaldi (Montreal, Canada) took two shots for the Red Storm.

St. John's has participated in the tournament for the second straight year, falling again in the final game by a 1-0 score. They have a 2-3 record in ECAC Tournament play, dating back to their first appearance in 1997. This was the first year that St. John's held the top seed in the tournament.
