Mendoza, Pasciolla Earn Women's Soccer All-BIG EAST Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - A pair of Red Storm women's soccer players have earned All-BIG EAST recognition for their efforts during the 2007 season. Sophomore Tara Mendoza was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team and sophomore Nicole Pasciolla was named an All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention.

Mendoza played in all 19 games for St. John's this season. The defender scored one goal, the first of her career, and tallied two points on the season. The goal was also a game-winner. Mendoza helped lead a defensive unit that posted eight shutouts and a 0.85 goals against average.

Pasciolla, meanwhile, also scored her first career goal this season. The midfielder finished the season with one goal, a game-winner, and two points.

The women's soccer team has posted an 11-5-3 record in 2007, including an 8-1-1 record at home. The team began the season 6-0-2 and also upset then-No. 18 Connecticut in a thrilling 1-0 double overtime game in the second to last regular season game of the year.
