St. Johns Falls to Stony Brook, 2-1 in Final Home Game
 

 
Jamaica, N.Y.  The St. Johns womens soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Seawolves of Stony Brook this afternoon at DaSilva Memorial Field. The Red Storm conclude their regular season with a 6-10 overall record.

In her final home game for the Red Storm, senior Lisa Kaczmarski (Lancaster, N.Y./Clarence) got SJU on the board first with a goal at the 28:39 mark. Kaczmarski headed a cross from freshman Lauren McGrory (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) into the net to give the Red Storm the 1-0 lead.

SJU lead the game until 62:46 when Stony Brooks Krisha Zagura sent a pass from Lauren Canino to the back of the net. Just 16 seconds later, Beth Arikian scored with an unassisted header.

The Seawolves outshot the Red Storm 10 to 7. Senior Evie Ksenopoulos (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) made three saves in the first for the Red Storm and junior Tina Fogg (Warwick, R.I./Warwick Veterans) recorded three in the second half. Stony Brook goalie Lori Nelson made four saves on the day.

In a pregame ceremony, St. Johns honored seniors Diane Abeles (Glendale, Calif./La Canada), Kristy Bergen (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa), Kaczmarski, Karyn Lundgren (Coram, N.Y./Newfield), Ksenopoulos, Lisa Rinaldi (Montreal, Canada/Laurier McDonald) and Marissa Stork (Flushing, N.Y./St. Francis Prep).

The St. John's women's soccer team qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 1994 by finishing fourth in the BIG EAST's Northeast Conference with a 3-3 record.

The Red Storm (6-9, 3-3 BIG EAST) will meet the #8 ranked University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-2-1, 5-1 BIG EAST) in South Bend, IN, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 4th.
