Queens, NY - The St. John's University women's golf team adds more than just talent to the team with the addition of freshman golfer Brittany Lambertson. She is not only an outstanding amateur golfer but she is an unbelievable individual with a huge heart.

Lambertson was the 2003 Long Island champion and two-time Nassau County champion at Northport High School. She is not only an excellent athlete, but she also excels in the classroom, being selected to the National Honor Society and the Who's Who of High School Students.

" Brittany is the type of student that every coach looks for- an outstanding player and student," Director of Golf Frank Darby said" She puts an unbelievable amount of passion into everything she does. I am thrilled to have a great person like Brittany on our squad."

With all of her accomplishments on and off the course, nothing is more important to Lambertson than her most recent undertaking to help in the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. ALS is more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It is an incurable affliction that affects the nerves that control voluntary muscles, leaving patients paralyzed over time. It is always fatal and often takes a life within three years.

This past weekend, Lambertson organized a charity golf event for 36-year old David Deutsch, who was her ninth grade science teacher. Deutsch was recently diagnosed with ALS. Her charity event supports "Driving 4 Life," the ALS campaign started by P.G.A Professionals Tom Watson, Bruce Edwards and Jeff Julian. The event took place at Indian Head driving range in Kings Park, NY, where people could get golf lessens from Lambertson and local golf professionals, with all the proceeds going to her foundation. She held a similar event in June, which raised over $6,000 for the David L. Deusch Fund for ALS Research.

Lambertson's huge heart is an inspiration to everyone, especially her teammates, as this Saturday, Coach Bishop and all her teammates joined her to be apart of this special event.
