Cape Cod, Ma-The St. John's women's golf team is currently in first place after the first round of play at the Boston College Invitational, hosted by Boston College in Cape Cod, Mass. With consistent team play the Red Storm carded an opening round 39-over par 323, and have a three shot lead over Boston College and Georgetown, who both carded an opening round 42-over par 326 and are tied for second place.
The Red Storm were led by sophomoreMaggie Steciuk (London, Ontario, Canada) who shot an opening round 8-over par 79, which currently has her in third place overall.
Adding to the steady team performance by the Red Storm, sophomore Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada) and sophomore Christin Thomson (London, Ontario, Canada) both carded an 10-over par 81. Junior Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada) is right behind them, shooting a first round 11-over par 82.
The women's golf team returns to the course tomorrow, Sunday, April 4th for the final round of the Boston College Invitational.
