March 30, 2004 JAMAICA, N.Y. - One of the top female shooters in the nation and St. John's University women's basketball star, Kim MacMillan, has been selected to participate in the shooting portion of the 16th Annual Mountain Dew College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Shooting Championship, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, April 1. The nation's best collegiate women's three-point shooters will square off in a three-point shootout for the women's title. The winner will compete against the men's winner in the Battle of the Sexes contest, all of which is held at the UTSA Convocation Center on the campus of Texas-San Antonio. The nationally televised event, which will be hosted by Dick Vitale and Brad Nessler, has come to be considered the unofficial kickoff to the Final Four weekend and features 24 of the nation's finest collegiate dunkers and long-range bombers. In addition to MacMillan, the women's field of the three-point contest includes Amber Jacobs, Boston College; Cathy Joens, George Washington; Beth Jones, Purdue; Chandi Jones, Houston; Kelly Mazzante, Penn State; and Lindsay Whalen, Minnesota. MacMillan, the NCAA record holder for most consecutive games with a three-pointer (60), set the St. John's record for the most three-pointers, with 93 this season. This season she ranks first in the BIG EAST and third in the nation in three-pointers per game (3.3). The event will air on ESPN immediately following the competition at 9 p.m. EST and is scheduled to air again on the following dates and times:
