St. Johns Hosts No. 16 Notre Dame on Tuesday, January 14
 

 
Jamaica, N.Y.  The St. Johns womens basketball team will face off against No. 16 Notre Dame on Tuesday, January 14 at Alumni Hall with tipoff slated for 7:30 pm.

New head coach Kim Barnes Arico, whose team is 6-8 overall, is in search of her first career BIG EAST win. After starting off with two nationally-ranked conference opponents and dropping a tough game over the weekend, St. Johns is 0-3 in BIG EAST play this year.

Last Saturday against Seton Hall, senior Danielle Rainey recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Rainey is the teams leading scorer, averaging 15.5 points, and rebounder, with 5.2 boards per game.

The Fighting Irish (9-4, 1-1) are coming off an 80-70 loss to Miami at home last Saturday. With the loss, Notre Dame dropped two straight home games for the first time since the start of the 1994-95 season. 2001-02 National and BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, Jacqueline Batteast paces the Irish with 15.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest.
