JAMAICA, N.Y. -- Greg Bolitsky was named head men's tennis coach at St. John's
University, it was announced by Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics
Ed Manetta today.
"We are pleased to have Greg aboard here at St. John's," Manetta said. "He brings a great deal of experience as a coach and from his playing days, and has a great knowledge for the game that will be beneficial to our student-athletes." Bolitsky currently serves as the Director of the Junior Tournament Training Program at Cunningham Tennis Center in Queens and is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Eastern Zonal Coach, in addition to his duties at St. John's. "I'm very excited for the opportunity," Bolitsky said. "This will be an exciting and challenging experience after having coached on the national junior level. I've always wanted to coach on the collegiate level and to realize that dream at a school like St. John's is a great opportunity." Prior to his arrival at St. John's, Bolitsky served as the Director of the New York Junior Tennis League for two years (1994-96), spent three years as a Senior Coach at Port Washington Tennis Academy (1991-94) and, from 1989 to 1991, was a coach for the Ontario Racquet Academy in his native Canada. Bolitsky, a 1988 graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, is a USPTR Professional, a USTA Area Training Coach and is USTA Level 1 Sports Science Certified. Following his graduation, he played two years on the USTA Satellite Circuit and one year on the Canadian Satellite Circuit.
Off the court, Bolitsky is the president of Kids for Cures Foundation, a group that
organizes fundraising events designed to raise money for New York City-area
children. In addition, he is the founder and chairman of the CAN-AM Cup Junior
Tennis Championships, a national level junior tennis competition pitting the top players
from the United States and Canada.
