Incoming softball freshman named high school All-American

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure softball freshman to-be Kara Morenus has been named to the 2007 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) High School All-American team.

In all, 50 high school student-athletes were spread out between the first and second teams and an honorable mention squad. Morenus was an honorable mention selection.

Morenus was a four-year starter at Horseheads where she holds school records for hits (139) and triples (21). The 2006 and 2007 Corning Leader Player of the Year, Morenus was a two-time All-State selection and a four-time member of the Southern Tier Athletic Conference first team.

This past season, Morenus was named to the NFCA Eastern Region first team after batting .506 with eight doubles, five triples, five home runs and 29 RBI. Coached by Warren Conklin, she was also named to the NFCA Academic All-America team.
