PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Thanks to a suffocating defensive performance by La Salle, the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team was limited to just three shots in a 1-0 loss to the Explorers on Friday night under the lights of McCarthy Stadium.

"Obviously tonight wasn't one of our best offensive efforts, but give credit to La Salle because they did an outstanding job of never allowing us to find a rhythm," said head coach Manoj Khettry. "We'll find out what kind of character we have on Sunday when we try to bounce back on Sunday against George Washington."

The Explorers outshot the Bonnies 10-0 in the first half and were able to beat Bona keeper Lisa Eberhart in the 25th minute. La Salle sophomore forward Dana Giordano tallied the eventual game-winner off a nice placed centering pass in front of the goal from Kristin Hextall.

All three of St. Bonaventure shots came in the second half as it was outshot 15-3 for the game.

Eberhart (five saves) and the Bona defense did an admirable job holding the Explorers to just one goal. La Salle had scored at least two goals in its last three games, including three-goal efforts against UMass and Richmond.

The win is the fourth in-a-row for the Explorers, who are now 4-1 in Atlantic 10 action. With the loss, St. Bonaventure slips to 1-11-1 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Bonnies will conclude their weekend road trip on Sunday when they take on George Washington. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
