March 28, 2006

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure has four of the 10 male student-athletes honored by the Atantic 10 as members of the 2005-06 Academic All-Conference team.

Seniors Adrian Blaszczak, Michal Bogacki and Patrick Doret and junior Chris Ekimoff were chosen from St. Bonaventure, marking an all-time high for coach Sean McNamee's program. Blaszczak and Doret are repeat selections.

All four men earned All-Conference honors as St. Bonaventure captured the Atlantic 10 Championship, its first since 1999. Blaszczak, a computer science and business information systems dual major, won two gold medals at the A-10 meet to raise his career total to 14 first-place finishes at the conference championship. He won the 200 breaststroke, finished second in the 100 breast and also was on the first place 400 medley relay. Bogacki, a management sciences major, anchored the 400 freestyle relay to first place in the title-clinching, last event of the A-10 meet. He also won silver medals in both the 100 free and 200 fly and was on the first place 400 medley and the second place 200 medley relays. Doret, who is a biology major, was on the winning 400 freestyle relay team, the second place 200 free relay and the third place 200 medley relay. He also took fourth in the 50 free and eighth in the 100 free. Ekimoff is an accounting major and the treasurer of St. Bonaventure's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The Webster, N.Y., native was a member of the third place 800 free relay team, won a bronze medal in the 500 free, placed fifth in the 1,650 free and eighth in the 200 free at the A-10 meet in February.

In order to be nominated for the Academic All-Conference Teams, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and be key performers for their teams. Ten men and 10 women are honored as the swimming and diving Academic All-Conference team each year.
