Bonnies tied for fourth at Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - St. Bonaventure is in fourth place out of nine teams after the first round of the Fort Lauderdale Spring Invitational at Grande Oaks Country Club. Thursday, the Bonnies posted a team score of 296 (+12) over the opening 18 holes. Loyola (Md.) College leads the 36-hole event at 285 (+1). South Dakota State is second at 291, Niagara is third at 294 and Loyola (Ill.) is tied with the Bonnies at 296. Youngstown State, Detroit, Saint Joseph's and Holy Cross complete the field. Junior Ryan Swanson carded the Bonnies' low round with an even par 71. Freshman Nathan Peck shot 74, sophomore Brennan Payne shot 75 and junior Andy Whalen posted a 76. Playing as an individual, senior Mike Pochily shot 74. The second round will be played on Friday beginning at 8 a.m.
