April 5, 2007 Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University Lady Jaguars softball team will host the Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division leading Texas Southern University Lay Tigers on Friday and Saturday. The two divisional opponents face each other at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Southern (8-11, 5-4 SWAC) dropped their latest contest on Wednesday when they ventured to Lake Charles, LA to face the Cowgirls of McNeese State University. Freshman Megan Hodge pitched a complete game but allowed six hits and four runs. The Atlanta, Texas native struck out six batters. Fellow freshman Aruba Nicholas and senior Tiffany Darville had the only two hits for Southern. Freshman are currently leading the way for the Lady Jaguars as Brittany Hymes has a .360 batting average that tops all Jags while Jasmone Williams is a close second with a .327 batting average. Hodge leads the team in pitching with a 7-2 record and a 2.60 earned run average. All games will be played at Lady Jaguar field on the campus of Southern University. The events are free and open to the public. |
