June 19, 2007 Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University women's basketball team released their 2007-2008 schedule today. Head coach Sandy Pugh and the Jaguars will start the season off at home in an exhibition game versus Team Evolution on November 10th at 6:00 pm Three days later the regular season officially begins as they host the coach Pugh's alma mater the Lady Demons of Northwestern State University to a 6:00 pm contest. On November 19th the Blue and Gold head north for the first road contest of the year as they challenge the Buckeyes of Ohio State University. This will mark the first time in school history that these two clubs meet. With November rounded out with three games, the last month of the year begins a seven game swing in the final part of the non-conference season. On December 1st and 2nd SU will venture to Reno, Nevada to take part in the John Ascuaga's Nugget Classic along with the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and Idaho State University. SU will play the tournament host the University of Nevada at Reno in a 5:00 pm contest while UCLA will play Idaho State at 7:00 pm. The consolation game will be played at 3:00 pm on the 2nd while the championship game will be played at 5:00 pm. After five days of practice Southern will travel west to participate in the Southwest Airline Lobo Shootout. Joining SU will be Norfolk State University, Townson University and tournament host the University of Mexico Lady Lobos. The final three contests will be on the road but not far from Baton Rouge as the Blue and Gold play familiar foes in the University of South Alabama on December 13th, the Lady Cowgirls of McNeese State University on the 17th and the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana University on the 20th. All games have a 7:00 pm start time.
Southern completes the non-conference portion of their schedule on the 20th and will begin their Southwestern Athletic Conference season on January 5th.
