SOUTHERN GRABS FIRST SWAC WIN



Ashley Augerson scored 10 points vs. TSU

Baton Rouge, LA - In her 299th coached game head coach Sandy Pugh and the SU women's basketball team captured their first Southwestern Athletic Conference win. The Blue and Gold defeated the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University 43-41 on Monday night.

Southern (3-8, 1-1 SWAC) was led by sophomore Ashley Augerson who dropped 10 points. Senior Indi Johnson completed her final contest in Houston, Texas as an amateur athlete with eight rebounds, nine points, two blocks, two assists, and two steals.

The win put coach Pugh at 199 career victories in her 10 years of being a head coach.

Southern welcomes SWAC rival Grambling State University on Saturday, January 12th in a 5:30 contest on "the bluff". This will be game number 300 for Pugh and the former All-American at Northwestern will be looking for win number 200.
