BATON ROUGE, Louisiana -- The seedings for the 2007 SWAC Basketball Tournament, to be held at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center, have been released at both the Southern University women's and men's teams will defend their tournament titles from a year ago from the 7th seed.

The Southern University Women's team, under head coach, Sandy Pugh, finished the season with a 5-21 overall record and 5-13 in SWAC play. The Jaguars will play the tournament's opening game on Wednesday, at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 7th, against the #2 seed, Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M.

Fredreika Lewis leads the Lady Jags with a 13.3 ppg and 4.6 rpg average.

The Southern men's team, under head coach, Rob Spivery, finished the season with a 10-20 overall record and 9-9 in SWAC play. The Jaguars will face off against the #2 seed, Jackson State Tigers at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 7th. The SU Jaguars are the defending regular season and tournament champions.
