Hurricane Katrina Continues to Disrupt Athletic Schedules
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Even three weeks after the arrival of Hurricane Katrina, Southern Miss athletic teams continue to re-arrange dates and sites for contests.
According to Head Cross Country Coach Deb Osteen, the cross country meet that was scheduled for Sept. 9 will not be rescheduled. The meet is cancelled. The team was scheduled to compete in the LSU Tiger Cross Country Festival, Sept. 24, but that meet has also been cancelled.
The volleyball team was scheduled to play at least three home matches in Reed Green Coliseum this season, but with the damage to the court, those matches have been moved to the Payne Center. The first home match, Sept. 25 against SMU, along with the Sept. 30 against Memphis and Oct. 2 against UAB, are now scheduled to be played in the Payne Center. The times have not changed.
The match against UNO has been cancelled, and the match against Tulane, Oct. 21, will be played at Texas A&M.
