Southern Miss Women's Indoor Track and Field Team Finishes Fifth at Southwest Indoor Classic The Golden Eagles finished fifth out of 15 teams, behind Baylor (119), Houston (89), TCU (54), and Stephen F. Austin (44). Junior Prudence Reid finished second in the finals of the 60-meters with a time of 7.51. Reid posted the best qualifying time in the preliminaries with a time of 7.47. Other runners who ran in the 60-meters showed improved times as well. Rena Tate ran a 7.88 in her heat and finished second, just ahead of teammate Joanna Williams who ran a time of 7.98. Yolanda Johnson ran a season-best 25.96 in the 200 meters. Hope Sinclair turned a time of 26.54. S'Dori Sims ran a 58.37 in the 400 meters, finishing fifth. Keri White improved her time in the 5,000 meters, turning a time of 19:08.52 in the event to finish fourth overall. The 4x400 relay team finished third with a time of 3:52.83 and the distance medley relay team finished fourth with a time of 12:44.97. In the field events, Sabrina Norwood finished tied for second in the high jump, jumping 5'5.75" and Kate Juedes finished fifth with a jump of 5'3.75". Sandra Allen finished eighth in the long jump with a jump of 18'2.50" in section A. Shannon Weaver finished first in her section with a jump of 17'8.75". Sims finished seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 36'3". In the shot put, Tamara Dayes had a throw of 40'6.74" and Michelle Zorn threw 38'3.50". Dayes finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 47'9.25". Southern Miss returns to action, Feb. 15, in the LSU Twilight Invitational.
