Soccer To Play Exhibition On Tuesday
HATTIESBURG, Miss.— The Lady Eagle soccer team will play the Hattiesburg Youth Boys U-17 select team Tuesday at 6 p.m., at the Southern Miss Track and Field and Soccer Complex.
The match will be a tune-up for Southern Miss’ Conference USA opening match against UCF on Friday, Sept. 30. The Lady Eagles have not played a match since Sept. 18, as the team’s game on Sept. 25 against Louisiana Tech was cancelled due to Hurricane Rita.
“We’re playing this match as a preparation for Central Florida, and it will be a good match for us,” Southern Miss Head Coach Gail Macklin said. “We need to get back on the field and play a match before we open Conference USA action. We’re lucky to have a good relationship with the Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association and we want to say thanks to Charlie McKeown and his team for playing us on short notice.”
Southern Miss (3-2-1) opens the Conference USA portion of its schedule on Friday, Sept. 30, at UCF for a 5:30 p.m., match.
