Sept. 13, 2007

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's soccer team is set to travel to Mobile, Ala., Friday, to face South Alabama in a 7 p.m. contest at "The Cage."

The match marks the eighth time the two schools have met, since the series began in 1997. The Jaguars have a 5-2 overall advantage over the Lady Eagles, after taking a 2-1 victory on Sept. 21, 2004.

Southern Miss is coming off of a 2-1 loss to in-state rival Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday. Despite the loss, the Lady Eagles were able to notch their first goal of the 2007 season as well as outshoot the Devilettes.

South Alabama enters the contest after defeating Lamar, 11-1, in the Northwestern Classic last Sunday. The win improved the Jaguars' record to 3-1.

After facing South Alabama, the Lady Eagles will return home on Sunday to meet Jackson State in another in-state rivalry. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
