Soccer's Prewitt Named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week

Prewitt

HATTIESBURG, Miss.— Southern Miss senior forward Lauren Prewitt was named Conference USA’s Offensive Player of the Week today. This marks the first time this season that a Lady Eagle has earned such an honor, and the first time since former standout Stacey Hall was selected during the 2000 season.

Prewitt has started the 2004 season red hot. She scored all three goals in the Lady Eagles’ 3-1 win against Samford Aug. 27, for the first hat trick of her career. She repeated the performance Sunday, adding three goals and assisting on another in Southern Miss’ 7-2 victory on the road at Arkansas-Little Rock.

The Katy, Texas native leads Conference USA with 13 points. Prewitt already has more goals (6) than she had in all of 2003 and has tied her point total (13) from that season as well.

Southern Miss (2-0) currently leads Conference USA with 10 goals, 24 points, and a .263 shooting percentage.

The Lady Eagles return to action this weekend, in the South Alabama Tournament, for a Sept. 3 match against Tennessee-Martin, and Sept. 5 match against Stetson.
