March 27, 2006 WALLACE, N.C. - The Southern Miss women's golf team opened with a two-round total of 629 to rank tied for 10th following opening day play at the 2006 UNC-Wilmington Lady Seahawk Invitational, Monday, at the par 72, 6,043-yard River Landing Golf Club here in Wallace, N.C. The Lady Eagles posted scores of 318 and 311 over the first two rounds. Western Carolina is the tournament leader after its score of 308-292--600, while Maryland stands second with a 308-295--603. Birmingham Southern (298-307--605) and host UNC-Wilmington (300-305--605) follow in a tie for third, while East Tennessee State (302-308--610) stands fifth. Ashlea Deener (80-72--152) currently leads Southern Miss in a tie for 15th, while Nicole Mackey (79-79--158) follows in a tie for 39th. Jennifer Bodemann (79-80--159) is tied for 42nd, while Johanna Kristiansson and Kate Burns each are tied for 46th with matching scores of 80-80--160. Individually, Birmingham Southern's Emily Klein is the clubhouse leader with a 71-74--145, while Michelle Jarman (72-74--146) and Kentucky's Beth Felts (71-75--146) are both tied for second. James Madison's Kiley Bishop (71-76--147) and Western Carolina's Ashley Hovda (74-74--148) round out the top five. The 13 teams wrap up play with final round action on Tuesday. Tee times will be set in a shotgun start.
