Lady Eagles Host Annual Hattiesburg Inn Classic, Dec. 6-7
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss will host its annual Hattiesburg Inn Classic, Dec. 6-7, featuring treams, Mississippi Valley St., Birmingham Southern and Tennessee-Martin.

Southern Miss opens the tournament against Mississippi Valley at 5:30 p.m., followed by Birmingham Southern and Tennessee-Martin approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Eagles are coming off a 68-60 victory over Samford, Dec. 3. La'Tasha Sumerall led the Eagles with 15 points, while Sonja Brown scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season. Southern Miss finished the game shooting 80 percent fromcthe line (20 of-25)

Senior forward Dana Jones continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game, while Sonja Brown has taken over the top spot in rebounding, averaging 8.4 boards per game. Marlena Lee leads the team in assists.

As a team, the Lady Eagles are averaging 59.6 points and 36.4 rebounds, while shooting 40.9 percent from the field.

Following the tournament, the Lady Eagles will hit the road for three straight games, take a break for the Christmas Holidays and return to the Green Coliseum, Dec. 28, hosting nationally ranked Texas Tech.
