Kristin Chaney was voted the team's most valuable player


Southern Miss women's basketball Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis and her staff handed out several team awards at the annual banquet on Sunday.

Freshman Kendra Reed came away with the top honor, the Lady Eagle Award. Reed also received the team award for the top free throw shooter.

Junior Kristin Chaney received the team's most valuable player award and team assist.

Ashley Boehnel received the team's best offensive award. Amber Eugene collected two awards, the most improved player award and the team's rebounding award. Ashley Harrell received the team's defensive award and three-point field percentage award.

Sophomore Liz Biland received the team's field goal percentage award.

Southern Miss finished the 2005-06 season with a 14-15 record and 10-6 in Conference USA. The team lost in the semifinals of the conference tournament to eventual champion Tulsa.
