MADISON, Wis. -- - Wisconsin shot an impressive 56.9 percent from the field and scored 39 points off 28 Lady Eagle miscues, on its way to an 88-37 victory Friday night.

Southern Miss falls to 3-5, while Wisconsin improved 7-1.

Liz Biland, the only the Lady Eagle to score in double figures, led the way with 10 points and a team-high five rebounds. Jolene Anderson led all scorers, posting a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Danielle Ward and Mariah Dunham scored 14 points each and Janese Banks chipped in 10 points.

"First of all, hats off to Wisconsin, they are a good basketball team," Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis said. "I think we had all A's in all of our categories in the first four minutes, with the exception of giving up three offensive rebounds.

"We got off to a great start, our defensive plan was working and we had it rolling. They were stunned defensively and then bingo, we started throwing the ball all over the gym," said McNelis. "You can not turn the ball over on unforced errors and give up easy shots. That's what we did."

For the first time this season, Southern Miss lost the battle of the boards, 44-20.

In the first nine minutes of the game, Southern Miss and Wisconsin battled each other evenly. During that span, there were five ties and two lead changes.

With the score knotted at 14-14, Wisconsin then went on a 15-2 run over a four-minute span, taking a 29-16 lead. From there, the Badgers out scored Southern Miss 18-6 in the last seven minutes for a 45-22 lead at the half.

Wisconsin scored 29 points off 20 Southern Miss miscues on its way to a 45-22 halftime lead. The Badgers out-shot Southern Miss in the first half, 55.9 percent to 40.9 percent.

Southern Miss struggled during the second half offensively, shooting only 25 percent from the field while the Badgers shot a blistering 58.1 percent.

Southern Miss returns to action on Dec. 7, when the Lady Eagles host Arkansas-Little Rock in a 7 p.m., game time.
