Several Golden Eagle performers turned in impressive results led by Cedric Norman first-place finish in the high jump with a height of 69.75. Matthew Cheruiyot finished eighth in his first collegiate competition in the one-mile run with a time of 4:30.55. Matt Fant finished eighth in the pole vault with a height of 1411. Marvin Lucas finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 238. The Lady Eagles posted outstanding marks as well. Lydiah Chepkwony finished eighth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:42.92, after sitting out last season. Jessica Crump continued to keep pace with last seasons success, finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.63. The womens distance medley relay team of Alisha Edwards, Karen Tankersley, Kasey House, Lydiah Chepkwony, finished sixth with a time of 13:26.33. Kate Juedes finished tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of 55, while her teammates Krista Miller and Sabrina Norwood finished tied for seventh at 53.25. Dasha Wakefield, in her first collegiate meet, finished tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 106 and a school record. Shannon Weaver finished second in the long jump with a jump of 188. Denise Wilson finished ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 378.75. Southern Miss returns to competition, Jan. 31, in the Bayou Bengal Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
