Golden Eagle Tennis Player Claims Singles Title

David Canudas captures singles title

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Southern Miss men’s tennis player David Canudas won the A singles of the Beau Holton Memorial Men’s Tennis Invitational, Sunday, defeating Cory Ross of LSU in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.   The win capped off an undefeated weekend for Canudas.

“David has been playing good tennis the past two weeks,” Head Coach Teddy Viator said.  “He won against some tough competition.  He battled back both times yesterday after being down a set to win.  I was very proud of David because I thought he played extremely well in this tournament.”

The Golden Eagles will be back in action at the Louisiana-Lafayette Rolex Tournament, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, wrapping up the fall portion of the season.
