Golden Eagle Tennis Team Competes at Georgia Tech Fall Invitational
HATTIESBURG, Miss. Three players from the Golden Eagle mens tennis competed at the 2005 Georgia Tech Fall Invitational, Oct. 7-9.
Domagoj Anic played in the Flight A Singles Draw, losing to Henzel (Tennessee), 6-4, 6-0. In the Flight A Singles Consolation Draw, Anic faced Sachs (Vanderbilt) and lost, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
In the Flight B Singles Draw, Reid Bourgeois defeated Shine (Georgia Southern), 6-2, 6-3 in the first round, Gilli (Furman), 7-6 (6), 6-1 in the second round and Twarowski (Georgia State), 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in the third round, advancing to the semifinals where he would face Baxendine (Tennessee), losing 6-3, 6-1.
Also in the Flight B Singles Draw, Tommy Maestri defeated Gomez (Tennessee Tech), 7-5, 6-0 in the first round. In the second round, he would lose to Hodge (Kentucky), 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
In doubles play, Maestri/Bourgeois paired up to face off against Cromydas/Sachs (Vanderbilt), losing 8-4.
