Golden Eagles Have Good Showing In First Day Action

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Southern Miss Golden Eagle tennis team competed in the UTC Baras Fall Classic, posting seven wins in the first day of competition.

 

Reid Bourgeois defeated the No. 4 seed Juan Pablo Vidour of Shorter, 2-6, 6-3, retired.  Tommy Oston defeated Dirk Prinsloo of UT-Martin, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 and lost to Arturo Navarro of UT-Chattanooga, 6-4, 6-1.

 

Juan Gazon recorded two wins, defeating Kieran Ricci of Jacksonville State, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 and Chris Barlow of Wofford, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

 

Dylan Mezey lost to Andrew Aruores of Jacksonville State, 6-2, 6-2.

 

Marc Lux also posted two wins, defeating Adrian Laza of Shorter, 6-1, 6-0, and Michael Barber of Wofford, 6-0, 6-1.

 

In doubles, Reid and Oston defeated Barlow and Richard Chi of Wofford, 8-4, but lost to Andre Maier and Sebastian Falk of UAB, 8-2.  Mezey and Lux lost to Brent Johnson and Andrew Stubbs of Wofford, 8-4.
