Golden Eagle Men's Tennis Drops Match To South Alabama, 6-1 HATTIESBURG, Miss. David Canudas picked up the Eagles' lone point with his No. 1 singles victory over South Alabama's Franticek Babej, 7-6, 6-0. Babej, ranked 30th in the nation entering the match, became the fifth ranked-player that Canudas has defeated this season. The Jaguars picked up singles victories in Nos. 2-6, including victories by Pavel Mazaev, Clinton Jacobs, David Kepka, Evan Fowler and Jorgen Vestli over Southern Miss' Juan Garzon, Christopher Rea, Reid Bourgeois, Thomas Funke and Dylan Mezey, respectively. In doubles action, South Alabama picked up a pair of wins to take the doubles point, 2-1. Mezey-Canudas fell to Kepka-Babej, 8-6, while Garzon-Funke lost to USA's Jacobs-Fowler, 8-3. The tandem of Rea-Bourgeois picked up victory over Mazaev-Vestli. Southern Miss returns to action Friday, when it hosts Southern University of Baton Rouge, La., in a non-conference match at the Raquet Club.
