The Southern Miss men's golf team fired a second-round total of 299, ranking tied for ninth overall at the Hyatt Plantation Club Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,064 yard Plantation Club.
The 299 total followed a first round score of 292, as the team has a two-day total of 591.
Texas Tech currently ranks first overall following the second round, posting a team score of 282, finishing with a two-day total of 562. Kentucky ranks second, following a round two score of 287, standing seven shots behind Texas Tech at 569. Tournament host Georgia State is nine behind at 571, following a round two score of 283, while Louisville and Charlotte round out the top-five with a round two score of 283 and 291 respectively, to have team scores of 573 and 574.
Jason Cuthbertson fired a second round score of even par 72, following an opening round of 73, to tie for 19th individually at 145, leading all Southern Miss scores. Danny Dennis is tied for 23rd, following back-to-back rounds of 73, shooting a two-day score of 146, while Justin Elliott ranks 31st with two rounds of 74, posting a two-day total of 148. Joel Myrick followed an opening round of 72 with a round two score of 80, tying for 46th with a two-day score of 152. Rocky Cleland followed an opening round of 74 with an 83 in round to, to rank for 55th individually, with a total of 157.
Charlotte's Ray Sheedy and Texas Tech's Oscar Floren each shot 67 in round two, and are tied for the individual lead at 137, seven under par.
The 11-team tournament concludes with a final round on Tuesday.
