Files associated with this release: Basketball Set To Host In-State Foe Alcorn State HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Tip-off for the game is set for 7:30 p.m., and is part of the doubleheader with women's basketball's game against Southern Illinois, which begins at 5 p.m. The Golden Eagles (5-2), led by first-year Head Coach Larry Eustachy, enter the game on a two-game win streak following Tuesday's 76-60 victory over Spring Hill. In the game, sophomore Jarekus Singleton paced the attack with 19 points, while David Haywood added 17. Jason Forte and Rashaad Carruth each added double-figure games, scoring 13 and 10, respectively. Jasper Johnson continues to lead the Golden Eagles in both points and rebounds, averaging 16.3 and 6.6, respectively. Singleton follows with a 13.1 points-per-game average, and Carruth holds a 11.9 scoring average. Solomon Brown, who leads the team with 50 assists on the year, is scoring 10.1 points a game. Alcorn State enters the game with a 1-6 record, following a 75-62 loss at Illinois State on Tuesday. Delvin Thompson leads the team with a scoring average of 11.1 points, while Almaad Jackson is the top rebounder with 6.0 boards a game. DeAndre Jones, who is averaging 9.9 points a game, has a team-best 16 assists. The game marks the sixth-straight and ninth overall in the series, one that Southern Miss leads 7-1. The Golden Eagles have won seven-straight in the series, including a 79-67 win last season in Hattiesburg. The contest will be broadcast over the Southern Miss/ISP Sports Network. "The Voice of the Golden Eagles" John Cox and Lance Pittman will call the action. Air time begins at 7 p.m., CT, with the Golden Eagle Courtside Show. Following the game, Southern Miss continues play with a "home" game against LSU in the Grand Classic at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Game time for that contest is set for 2 p.m., on Dec. 18.
