CARBONDALE, Ill. - Brendan Lutz and Erin Pauk are among 36 student-athletes who earned the Missouri Valley Conference President's Council Award, the league's highest academic achievement.

Lutz, a member of the Southern Illinois University baseball team, holds a 3.94 GPA in Geology, while Pauk, a member of the women's basketball team, carries a 4.0 GPA in Psychology.

The President's Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through fall 2005 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.

In addition, the MVC has announced its Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award recipients and 2005-06 Honor Roll.
