OMAHA, Neb. - The Southern Illinois men's tennis team's season came to an end today with a 4-1 loss to Indiana State in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

With the loss, the Salukis finish the season with a 12-8 record overall and a 2-5 conference mark.

The Sycamores pounced on the Salukis right away, taking a quick 1-0 lead with two wins in doubles play. Anton Tsymbalov and Bruno Echer defeated Felipe Villasenor and Lucas Waked at No. 2, 8-5. Indiana State clinched the 1-0 doubles point with a 8-5 win at No. 3 by Michael Wenham and Jon Sigurdsson over SIU's Rodrigo Lama and Breno Salvany.

The Salukis did not fair well in singles, dropping three matches to fall 4-1. The only Saluki to have success in singles' play was senior Rodrigo Lama who won his match over Wenham, 6-2, 6-4.

Waked and Villasenor were leading in their matches, but the matches were not completed after Indiana State collected its decisive fourth point.
