Recap |  Box Score

Coach Keith Guttin
On the Team: "Our starting pitching and defense have been pretty good. I think why we have been on somewhat of a role is we've gotten some clutch hits early and late, with two outs and that has been the difference the last few weeks."

Scott Carroll
On Pitching: It was nice to have this offense get seven runs it helps you feel a lot "better. Southern Illinois' were free swingers they were swinging at a lot of stuff early and not going very deep into counts. It was to my advantage early on, as the game went on they went deeper into counts making me work a little harder."

Tim Rafferty
On Win: "It is definitely good to come out and play good our first game. It is important to set the tone in game one. We battled today and it was important for us to get this win."

Clay Coulter
On Home run: "I was just looking for a fastball a little in and he left it up a little bit and I just tried to take advantage of his mistake. It is really nice hitting behind Nolan Keane and Matt Lawson because they are working so hard to get on base and giving me opportunities to get them in."

On Scoring with two outs: "We seem to rally, when we get down we seem to work real hard especially with two outs. We seem to put it together then but it seems to be the tone of our team and how the season has gone."

Southern Illinois

Coach Dan Callahan
Key to Game: "The three run rally started with two outs. We gave up a little flair to right and then we hit the next guy and a bad pitch. Rather than being out of the inning down 2-0 it is 5-0. On Pitchers: The reason Jordan started was because he has been our most consistent starter. Cody Adams did an outstanding job today, he couldn't have been any better than he was."

Jordan Powell
On Home run: "The homerun was a bad pitch, it was supposed to be a fastball in but I left it out over the plate. It was a lack of executing pitches and not getting the third out."
