At SIU: Vaulted in five indoor and seven outdoor meets in 2007...recorded 11 of 13 top-10 finishes, including a meet title at the SIUE Twilight.

Pre-SIU: Was a sectional champion in the pole vault and super sectional champion in the javelin at Rend Lake College in 2004...at Harrisburg High School, he was a three-time state qualifier in the pole vault, sprints and sprint relays.

Personal: Full name is Blake Richard Brachear...majors in Kinesiology with a specialization in athletic training...carries a 3.02 GPA...born May 7, 1985...son of Ron and Sherrie Brachear...his older brother, Brad, played football at SIU...younger brother, Brett, is a sophomore on the track team.
