Oct. 21, 2005
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena (3-9-1, 1-2-1) fell behind by three on the road before storming back with two unanswered goals in a 3-2 loss to Niagara (7-5-1, 3-1-0) in MAAC action this afternoon. Trailing by three, the Saints broke in the scoring column behind Caio Silva's (Sao Paulo, Brazil) second goal in as many games. The senior tracked down the ball in traffic off a rebound and found an opening on the right side of the goal. On the season, Silva has five goals to lead the team in scoring and points (10). With under a minute left in regulation, Sean Kelly (Red Hook, N.Y.) blasted a shot into the top left corner of the goal to pull the Saints to within one at 3-2. The senior has at least a point in each of the last two games and has three points on the season. The Saints fired eight shots on goal compared to Niagara's six. Siena also held the edge in corner kicks, 4-3 For Niagara, Matt Stedman opened the scoring with the first two goals of the game, each coming inside of the first 10 minutes of play. Rafael Venturini added a goal and an assist for the Purple Eagles.
