Koeper Captures All-OVC First Team Accolades

Nov. 15, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State senior Jessica Koeper (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) was named to the All-OVC First Team, the conference announced today. This is the second consecutive year that she has earned first-team accolades after receiving the same honor last season. Koeper, the reigning OVC Offensive Player of the Week, earned preseason All-OVC first team honors in August.

The 5-7 outside hitter ranks second in the OVC for both kills per game (4.48 kpg) and points per game (4.82 ppg) in addition to posting a 4.13 dig-per-game average. She has captured OVC Player of the Week accolades three times this season and is second in school history for kills (1,509) and attacks (4,352). Koeper finished the regular season on a strong note as she tallied double-doubles in four of Southeast's last five matches.

Jacksonville State's Abbey Breit captured OVC Player of the Year honors for the second straight year, while Heather Norris of Murray State earned the OVC Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Rick Nold was named Coach of the Year and freshman Brittany Whitten claimed the Freshman of the Year award for the Gamecocks.

The Redhawks enter the O'Reilly OVC Tournment as the sixth-seed and will face third-seeded Murray State tomorrow night in Jacksonville, Ala. The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
