Jessica Koeper Garners Final OVC Weekly Honor of the Year

Nov. 14, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State senior outside hitter Jessica Koeper (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) was selected as this week's Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball, the conference announced on Nov. 13. This is the third weekly honor for Koeper this season and the fourth of her career.

The 5-11 Koeper averaged 5.86 kills per game and recorded a .302 hitting percentage in guiding the Redhawks to a 1-1 record last weekend in Alabama. Koeper recorded a match-high 20 kills with a career-best .467 hitting clip as Southeast claimed a 3-0 win at Samford on Nov. 11. On the next night at OVC regular-season champion Jacksonville State, she recorded a double-double of 23 kills and 18 digs to go along with three block assists in a four-game loss to the Gamecocks.

For the season, Koeper is averaging 4.48 kills and 4.82 points per game for Southeast, which ranks her second in the OVC in both categories.

The Redhawks finished sixth in the OVC standings and will open first round play of the OVC Tournament this Thursday against Murray State at Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville, Ala. The first serve starts at 6 p.m.
