Volleyball Claims Share of OVC Regular-Season Championship
Nov. 10, 2007
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State volleyball has captured its first Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship since 2000 after finishing in a three-way tie with Jacksonville State and Morehead State after the Eagles dropped a three-game decision at Samford Saturday afternoon. It marks the first time in OVC history that three teams have captured a share of the conference title at the end of the season. The Redhawks (20-11) closed the regular season with a 3-2 win at UT Martin and a 3-0 home victory over Austin Peay and ended the conference slate with a 15-5 record, but will serve as the third seed in next week's OVC Tournament at Jacksonville State due to a second tiebreaker. JSU and Morehead are the top two seeds in the tournament and will receive a first-round bye. Southeast faces sixth-seeded Tennessee Tech in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 15 with the time to be determined.
