Volleyball Posts 3-1 Win At Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. - Sophomore right side hitter Karleigh DeLong (Corona, Calif./Santiago) recorded a match-best 22 kills in addition to 11 digs as Southeast Missouri State volleyball captured a 3-1 (29-31, 30-27, 30-24, 30-21) victory at Eastern Kentucky tonight at McBrayer Arena in an Ohio Valley Conference match. The Redhawks improved their record to 16-10 (11-4), while the Colonels fell to 3-21 (2-12) on the season. Junior outside hitter Aubrey Dondlinger (Palos Heights, Ill./Parkland CC) and sophomore setter Sarah Barth (Germantown, Ill./Central) contributed double-doubles for Southeast. Dondlinger tallied 19 kills and 15 digs, while Barth produced 58 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore libero Molly Davis (Muncie, Ind./Burris) added 21 digs and senior middle blocker Brenna Schlader (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) notched a match-best eight blocks with nine kills. Freshman outside hitter Claire Keaton (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word) produced nine kills, eight digs and three block assists. Sophomore Amanda Wilson posted 21 kills and four blocks to lead Eastern Kentucky. Freshman Kate Hendle (58 assists and 11 digs) and freshman Amanda Fago (12 kills and 12 digs) each produced double-doubles, while junior Bridget Mustard added 19 kills and four blocks. Senior Brittany Nobilio tallied a match-best 31 digs for the Colonels. Southeast leading margins in kills (77-68), assists (68-62), service aces (7-6) and blocks (13-9) for the match, but EKU finished with a 74-70 advantage in digs. The Redhawks travel to Morehead State for a key OVC battle tomorrow afternoon with the first serve set for 1 p.m. The match will be streamed live on the internet on OVCSports.tv. |
