Women's Basketball Adds Two Signees For 2007-08 Season

May 9, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State women's basketball has announced the signing of Crysta Glenn (San Diego, Calif.) and Rochelle Ikeni (Fresno, Calif.) to National Letters of Intent, head coach John Ishee announced today. Glenn and Ikeni are the second and third signees for the Redhawks during the NCAA spring signing period.

Glenn, a 5-10 forward, played at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan., for two years under coach Todd Clark while capturing All-Jayhawk East Conference and All-NJCAA Region VI accolades as a sophomore. She averaged 11 points and eight rebounds per game for the Tigers en route to a 20-12 record and a semifinal appearance in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament. Glenn posted averages of 7.6 points and a team-leading 6.3 caroms per contest as a freshman and prepped at San Diego High School.

Rochelle Ikeni scored 28 points and grabbed 17 rebounds per game at Roosevelt High School. (Fresno Bee)

"Crysta is an athletic forward and a really good student. She was the leading rebounder on a good Cowley team in the Jayhawk Conference, which is one of the three best junior college conferences in the nation," stated Ishee. "She can score and is a good all-around player that will give us depth on the bench. We are excited to have her join the team next season."

Ikeni averaged 28 points and 17 rebounds a game during her senior season at Fresno's Roosevelt High School for coach Mark Gradoville, where she was rated fifth in the state of California and finished in the top 10 nationally in scoring. The 5-10 forward earned First Team All-City honors from the Fresno Bee newspaper and claimed Most Valuable Player honors in the Yosemite League after leading Roosevelt to a 14-12 record this past season. Ikeni recorded nine games in which she scored 30 or more points, including a career-best total of 43 points in a game.

"I really believe that with Rochelle's ability to score points in a variety of ways she will have a chance to be a very successful player here at Southeast," Ishee said. "The character and work ethic that her coach, her counselors and what Coach (Angela) Moore and I gathered from our visits with her, she will be a potential steal for us. I feel good about the possibility a scorer like Ro can bring to our program."

Glenn and Ikeni will join Tore Fite, Tierra Johnson and Lauren Sharpe as newcomers for the 2007-08 season.
