CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -

TIP-OFF: Southeast Missouri State women's basketball heads to the state of Kentucky for final time in the regular season as it travels to Morehead State for an Ohio Valley Conference showdown Wednesday with a start time of 4:15 p.m. The Redhawks hold a 4-4 in road contests this year that includes a 3-2 ledger against OVC teams, while the Lady Eagles are 4-3 at Johnson Arena this season with a 4-1 mark in the OVC.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: Southeast brings a 13-5 season ledger into Wednesday's game and has an 8-2 mark versus OVC competition. The Redhawks, who captured home wins over Tennessee State (64-46) and Tennessee Tech (77-52), are paced offensively by junior forward/center Missy Whitney's 13.1 points a game, while senior center Lachelle Lyles leads the team with 16.8 rebounds per contest that ranks her first in the OVC and NCAA Division I. Also scoring in double figures for Southeast are junior guard Ashley Lovelady (12 ppg), and sophomore guards Sonya Daugherty (11.1 ppg) and Tarina Nixon (10.3 ppg).

SCOUTING THE LADY EAGLES: Morehead State holds a 9-9 record on the year and holds an 8-2 record in conference play after extending its current winning streak to seven games thanks to a pair of road wins last week over Samford (60-57) and Jacksonville State (77-74). Senior center LaKrisha Brown currently leads the Lady Eagles with 11.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while adding 11 steals and 10 blocks. Freshman guard Amanda Green ranks second on the team in scoring (174 - 9.7 ppg) and assists (43 - 4.2 apg), while junior guard Stacy Strayer has tallied a team-best 71 assists (4.2 apg) and 17 steals (1.0 spg). Guiding Morehead State in his second season is Matthew Mitchell, who has tallied a career record of 25-22.

SERIES HISTORY: Southeast holds a 22-6 advantage in the all-time series with Morehead State. The Redhawks have captured four of the last five games on the road, including a 58-43 victory last February en route to sweeping last season's series. Since entering the OVC in 1991-92, Southeast has tallied an 8-4 record against the Lady Eagles in Morehead.

DAUGHERTY WINS FIRST-EVER OVC WEEKLY HONOR: Sophomore guard Sonya Daugherty captured Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon. Daugherty was picked for the weekly honor along with Murray State forward Joi Scott. The 5-7 native of St. Louis averaged 21.3 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals a game last week in helping the Redhawks to a 2-0 record. She tallied a career-best 26 points and four steals against Tennessee State before producing 17 points and a career-high six assists two days later against Tennessee Tech.

REDHAWKS RAISE OVC TITLE BANNERS LAST WEEKEND: Last Saturday, players and coaches of the 2005-06 Southeast women's basketball team raised the banners to celebrate last season's OVC regular-season and tournament championships at the Show Me Center. The ceremony took place after the Redhawks' 77-52 win over Tennessee Tech. That squad set several firsts in program history, including a 22-9 overall record, a school-record 16-4 conference ledger and a 12-game winning streak.

LYLES AIMS FOR TOP SPOT ON SEMO'S SINGLE-SEASON REBOUNDING LIST: Senior center Lachelle Lyles has ascended to second place on the Southeast's single-season rebounding list after recording 33 boards last week against Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech last weekend at the Show Me Center. She has now produced 302 caroms on the season and needs 26 caroms to tie the first-place tally of 328 that was set by former player Jerri Wiley during the 1990-91 campaign.

UP NEXT: The Redhawks return to the Show Me Center this Saturday to open a two-game homestand against current OVC leader Murray State with a 5 p.m., start time.
